Our Story

Preserving a Legacy with Action

As always, timing is everything. Just before the world exploded into its present state of new crises arising every day, the Federated Church of Chagrin Falls was seeking a way to best utilize its property, the beautiful post-and-beam building situated on 40-acres known as the Family Life Center. As a United Church of Christ (UCC) congregation, Federated Church's mission work was already focused on social issues and caring for the earth. The UCC was an early leader in the 1980s calling out the issues and working toward understanding and acceptance of all of our differences and helping to meet the needs of those most vulnerable. The absolute best and most vital use for the Family Life Center property became abundantly clear!

An idea was formed by a group of Federated Church members who are passionate about the Family Life Center property and the church's mission of social and environmental justice. What if this gorgeous and idyllic property could be used as a collaborative space both inside and out to promote those causes? It was an idea with a lot of support and  momentum. The CLC was formed and began its groundwork in early 2020.

Incorporated as a 501(c)3, the mission of the Community Life Collaborative is to advance compassionate and transformational stewardship for each other and the earth: connect our community, and protect our environment. We seek to be the community hub for promoting awareness, critical conversation and action around social and environmental justice.
